The ViaRhôna

The ViaRhôna is a cycling itinerary that follows the River Rhône between Lake Geneva and the Mediterranean coast.

The ViaRhôna itinerary covers 815 km of secured cycle paths and shared paths alongside the Rhône. Suitable both for families and long-distance cyclists. The ViaRhôna takes you along the banks of the Rhône for a discovery of the landscapes, towns and villages, as well as the vineyards and the culinary delights of each region that it crosses.

In Isère, the ViaRhôna follows the Rhône riverside for over 90 km.

Discover the 3 Isère stages of the ViaRhôna

  • From Groslée (Ain) to La Balme les Grottes: 52 km on minor roads/for intermediates → See the itinerary
  • From La Balme les Grottes to Jons:  36 km on minor roads/for intermediates → See the itinerary
  • From Saint Romain en Gal/ Vienne to Sablons: 33 km mainly on secured cycle paths/for families → See the itinerary

Good to know

The Vienne Tourist Office boasts a fleet of 33 bicycles, including 3 electrically-assisted bikes and 5 children’s bikes, for day or half-day rentals (free of charge for the first 90 minutes). Ideal for travelling for up to 50 kms along the river on the ViaRhôna.
