L'Échappée Belle ultra trail

An impressive 149k ultra trail running race crossing the Belledonne massif, the tough Échappée Belle is characterised by its high technicality, the difficulty of the trails and the altitude with its highest point at Croix de Belledonne (2,930 m).

A 149-km ultra trail adventure starting from Vizille (Isère) and ending in Aiguebelle (Savoie), this magnificent trail of 11,400 m ascent takes participants from 250 m to 2,930 m above sea level. Known for its technicality, the challenging Échappée Belle travels the whole breadth of the Belledonne range.

The L'Echappée Belle provides three races on Belledonne’s Massif and one Skyrace:

  • The Echappee Belle Integrale: 149k and 11,400 m D+, solo or duo, from Vizille to Aiguebelle, crossing the whole of Belledonne’s Massif. With more than 40k above 2,000 m and minimum descent in the valley, this extremely technical and demanding ultra trail run offers a unique experience. This race is a real treat for experienced trail runners who love stunning and challenging terrain.
  • The North Crossing: 83,5k and 6,140 m D+ solo, from Fond-de-France (Haut-Breda) to Aiguebelle, for run-wild-terrain lovers. Start at Fond-de-France, with an ascent to the beautiful Combe Valloire, near the Lac Blanc, Lac Noir and Lac Glacé (White Lake, Black Lake and Frozen Lake), then a series of three passes with Valloire (2,751 m), Comberousse (2,669 m) and Moretan (2,503 m).
  • The Ridge Track: 62k and 4,700 m D+ from Allevard to Aiguebelle. A challenging route throughout the wild trails on the Maurienne side of Belledonne. This race is more accessible than the two other races, but maintains the technical spirit of Belledonne with the Pointe Rognier Peak (2,341 m). The Belledonne summit offers a unique panorama of the Alps and the Mont-Blanc
  • The White Rock Skyrace: 21k and 2.000 m D+ start from Fond-de-France (Haut-Bréda) for a loop. A technical route with Belledonne’s DNA: wild route, screes, a beautiful view over Les 7 Laux and Belledonne’s Peak, the ascent of Rocher Blanc (2,928 m), rocks and even more rocks!
