Refuge

Permanent closure - La Pilatte mountain hut

Permanent closure - La Pilatte mountain hut

The refuge is perched on a promontory overlooking the Glacier de la Pilatte and offers scenic views over various summits such as Les Bans, Ailefroide and Les Ecrins.
Due to the ground instability, the refuge is closed.

Mountaineering routes starting from the Pilatte hut are varied in difficulty and style, ranging from snow climbs (e.g. Le Gioberney, Col des Bans) to rock and mixed routes (e.g. Les Boeufs Rouges, Les Bans normal route and North-East pillar).
