Isère Tourism

Warmth & hospitality

At the end of a long day in the mountains, there’s nothing better than a warm welcome and friendly staff who make you feel like one of the family. Enjoy the home comforts of fluffy sheepskins, soft duvets, the flickering glow of candlelight or unwind in toasty outdoor hot tubs. Meet new friends and fill up with the simple joy of nourishing home-cooked food. Bienvenue and welcome to Isère!

Isère has a long history of welcoming visitors to its region. In the Middle Ages, the Antonin hospital order in Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye was treating and curing people. During the 19th century, the towns of Allevard and Uriage developed as thermal resorts. And in the early 20th century, Villard-de-Lans became a pioneer in the climatotherapy boom. Today, we're ready to welcome you into our mountain hotels and refuges where everything has been thought of to make your stay as comfortable as possible and nothing is ever too much trouble.

Feel at home

Auberge Nemoz, Les 7 Laux

Towards the bottom of the secret, wild valley of Haut Bréda in Les 7 Laux in the Belledonne massif, a path leads to the Auberge Nemoz, an old mountain barn that has become a snug stone and wood chalet with five characterful, individually designed rooms. Nothing is here by chance, from the wooden beams to the flowers, from the comfort of the soft duvets and fur throws to the warm restaurant wrapped around the crackling central fireplace. Outside under the stars, a large red cedarwood hot tub - or Norwegian bath - relaxes skiers’ and hikers’ tired muscles in 37° warm water. Owners Bertrand and Amélie prepare tasty mountain dishes with melting raclettes, gratin Dauphinois and other homemade meals concocted with local ingredients to make guests feel at home.

Chalet Mounier****, Les 2 Alpes

Once upon a time, in a magical setting facing the Écrins National Park, a small mountain refuge became a farm and inn in 1879. In 1933, the Mounier family turned the refuge into a hotel. The 4-star hotel retains its original character but with continual improvements. Today, Georgia, Robert and Alban Mounier run the establishment with passion and keep alive a mountain tradition of warmth and hospitality. It now has the highest altitude Michelin star in Isère with the restaurant, Le P’tit Polyte, at 1,650 m. Full of charm, the relaxation area is simply irresistible with tranquil rooms and spaces, cosy lounges and living areas, mountain views, a spa offering sensorial journeys, and an outdoor pool in summer.

Chamois Lodge, Les 2 Alpes

Michelin-starred chef Fabien Poirot (formerly at the P’tit Polyte) bought this hotel in 2019 and completely redesigned it. In the centre of Les 2 Alpes, a few steps from the ski lifts, the Chamois Lodge is unlike other hotels. Owners Aurélie and Fabien have created a restaurant-with-rooms focusing on shared living spaces, where you can get together and chat with both guests and local characters. The contemporary quirky decor is a main feature combined with industrial inspiration, rock'n'roll spirit and a mountain chalet. A place where you can hangout, the cocktail bar is open all day. In the restaurant, Fabien offers bistronomic cuisine combining local culture and exoticism. Guests can relax in the sauna, jacuzzi, hammam and under sensory showers, in the expert hands of massage specialists and other craziness... "Exactly like a chamois on legs", say Fabien and Aurélie!
