"The last descent" on an electric Fat Bike

© T. Hytte

Twice weekly during the 2018-2019 winter holidays, "Ecox" will be organising a unique event at Collet d’Allevard: a complete descent in the ski area on an electric fat bike, a mountain bike with extra-large tyres providing great stability on loose ground: sand, gravel, snow, etc. As the season draws to an end, if you have some energy left over, then it's time for the "last descent". The idea is simple: just follow the slope down a 700-metre descent! Thrills guaranteed for a new experience with your friends, and an unforgettable sight for couples and families with the setting sun reflected on the snow. The event is accessible to all teenagers and adults looking for new mountain sensations.

Espace Ski de Rando®

St-Pierre de Chartreuse was the scene of the first Espace Ski de Rando® in 2013! The idea is to give participants their first experience in cross-country skiing in a safe environment. It takes place not far from the ski area, and is a chance for anyone who might find powder snow tricky to reach the marked-out slopes more easily. The beginners' event includes a session on avalanche transceivers, so that the participants will know enough to take action in the event of difficulty.

Tomorrowland "The Hymn of the Frozen Lotus"
from 14 to 21 March 2020

L’Alpe d’Huez is hosting the first Tomorrowland Winter, a major European music festival that is arriving in France and in the Alps this year with the theme of "The Hymn of The Frozen Lotus". The Isère resort will be fully mobilised and transformed into "Tomorrowland Winter", an imaginary world for the 30,000 music fans travelling to the event from all over the world. Like the summer festival in Belgium, all the musical genres will be featured to give visitors the ultimate festival experience. A main stage will be specially created at the edge of the slopes for the world's biggest DJs. Tasty dishes and drinks will be on offer in the most surprising places, and all bathed in the scenic effects, magic and atmosphere of Tomorrowland. The festival pass gives access to all the ski area.

The last snow

Les Deux Alpes is one of the last ski resorts to close each year (25 April 2020)! Spring is a time of mild temperatures and longer days. The excellent maintenance work on the slopes, combined with the high-altitude mountain peaks in the ski area mean that snow quality is ideal for groups hoping to enjoy really great skiing. You can enjoy the return of sunny weather and without the winter crowds!
From €300 per person in a flat for 4 people in April + 6-day skipass.

Ice waterfall

A climb up an ice waterfall is one of the most original activities in the Oisans range. In fact, there are over 200 of them in the region! To make the climbs easier and give access to as many people as possible, the Bérarde Guides Office offers beginners' courses all through the winter. For 2 days, equipped with helmets, crampoons and ice axes, visitors set off to explore the most secret spots in the Vénéon valley. The magic of the sparkling ice and a chance to learn climbing skills make for an unforgettable shared experience!
Every year in January the Ice Waterfall Gathering takes place in St-Christophe-en- Oisans.
This winter, the event will be held on Saturday 26 January from 9 a.m. Climbing workshops, an introduction to a range of climbing activities, workshops for getting to know local animals and plants, and "snow and avalanche" workshops will be taking place all through the day for everyone who enjoys strong sensations.

With 2 marked-out routes, Villard Reculas is the top trail resort for winter! The first route leaves from the Villard Reculas Tourist Office and runs for 2 km with a height difference of 200 m. The second starts from the terminus of the Villarais chairlift, at the summit of Grande Sure. This is a 3.5 km trail with a 300 m height difference and a wonderful, panoramic view over the surrounding mountains, Grandes Rousses, Belledonne, Taillefer and Meije. The two trails are accessible to beginners and experienced trailers and are a chance to share with friends or family the unique sensation of running in the snow.
