At the heart of the 19th century, the engineer Louis Vicat creates the artificial concrete. Here starts a true fondness for this "grey gold".

Architecture, settings are now made with concrete on the city's facades, creating the illusion of the stone. While discovering ornamentations sometimes fanciful from neo-classical facades to art deco, learn how to distinguish the stone from the molded concrete.
