Isère Tourism

Trail running

As the snows melt, five resorts - Allevard Country, Alpe du Grand Serre, Chartreuse, Oisans and Vercors - open up marked trails including the breathtaking Passerelles du Monteynard. And throughout the summer, more than 20 events take place including the 160 km Ultra Tour des 4 massifs.

With more than 400,000 practitioners and over 2,000 events each year in France, trail running is attracting more and more enthusiasts. Isère is recognised as an ideal destination for the sport.

Since the creation of the first trail running resort in Chartreuse in 2011, today the department of Isère has 5 of these resorts.

More than twenty events are scheduled there during the summer season.

A Trail Station is made up of several tools:

  • A dozen marked trails for all levels (green, blue, red or black), and trail workshops with free access
  • The Stations de Trail mobile app to guide you on the trails. Free and available on Apple and Androïd, the mobile app Stations de Trail is like a real virtual practice companion!
  • A reception area to get information, train, prepare and relax
  • A program of training courses and trail races throughout the year, for all levels

The Chartreuse Trail Station
The very first Trail Station was born in Chartreuse. Located in the heart of the massif, you will find trails from Saint Pierre de Chartreuse, Le Plateau des Petites Roches, Entremont le Vieux and even a connecting trail from Grenoble.

The Vercors Trail Station
In the heart of the Vercors in Villard de Lans, the Trail Station offers 13 routes including 2 Kilometer Vertical. In winter, 7 itineraries are practicable on snow.
Easy access to the middle mountains, the charm of our villages, the preserved nature of our wide open spaces or the numerous leisure facilities will allow you to easily enjoy this beautiful place for a trail outing in the fresh air!

The Oisans Trail Station
The Oisans is a paradise for trail runners ..... With a Trail Station inaugurated in 2013 in Villard Reculas, the Oisans offers a vast network of marked trails for all levels. Departures also from Auris en Oisans, Vaujany and Les 2 Alpes.

The variety of landscapes, plains, forests, cliffs, plateaus will delight you. Dry climbs, loops, the choice is wide. For the most experienced, the loop of the 3 Villards is a course passing by the 3 Villards perched above Bourg d'Oisans: 47 km for nearly 3000 m of difference in altitude.
